#7/8
The Reporter

This card is so rare that I know very little about it. It mentions that it's from JAM PAC Vol. 1, Issue 1, so I'm going to tentatively assume that it's from a magazine.

If anyone has a clue (because I don't) please let me know.

Quality control seems to have been at a minimum as they misspelled the word 'starring' as 'staring'.

It was Christmas everyday at Disney this past year. Americans purchased nearly $500 million dollars of tickets for THE SANTA CLAUSE starring TIM ALLEN and THE LION KING, starring, well, SIMBA. Next? The mouse company expects to ship over 20 million videos of The Lion King. Here's to the Circle of Life.

#51 Mufasa
Disney Treasures Series

These cards form a small 5 card 'subset' in the Series 1-3 Disney Treasure Series.

They break down like this:

Series 1: #51 Mufasa

Series 2: #175 Timon
               #157 Scar

Series 3: #242 Pumbaa
               #246 Shenzi, Banzai,Ed

Picture
#51 Mufasa

Mufasa, impressively voiced by actor James Earl Jones, is every inch the king of the jungle. Replacing such a leader would normally be a huge task, and for a small lion cub the experience would be overwhelming. Such is the scenario set before Simba when his father is killed by the treacherous Scar in The Lion King. Although Simba flees his responsibilities at first, he is ultimately drawn back to his home to claim his place in the "circle of life" as the new Lion King.

07/26/15 edit: The writing is so tiny on this card that I actually had to get a magnifying glass. Nothing like a headache for the cause. :)

Picture
#175 Timon
Disney Treasures Series

The self proclaimed "brains of the outfit," hyperactive motormouth Timon is a wisecracking meerkat who makes his home with his pal Pumbaa, outside the Pridelands. Whether he's making jokes at Pumbaa's expense or pitching his Hakuna Matata lifestyle, behind Timon's patter is a loyal little guy who would give his last wisecrack to keep Simba.

#242 Pumbaa
Disney Treasures Series

Not only is Pumbaa kind, but he's also extremely loyal. This wonderful warthog quickly befriends Simba, and unhesitatingly pledges his allegiance to him once the real truth of Simba's destiny is revealed. In fact, Pumbaa's only fault may be his paint-peeling flatulence problem!

#246 Shenzi, Banzai and Ed
Disney Treasures Series

These dastardly hyenas follow Scar's lead in trying to change the Pridelands forever. Shenzi is the brains of her pack - but with hyenas, that's not saying much! Banzai is a true follower, while Ed is dimwitted even among his own dull kind. But together the trio pose a grave threat to Simba.

Picture
#157 Scar
Disney Treasures Series

Scar is almost the exact oppossite of his brother Mufasa: where Mufasa is regal and open, Scar is secretive, devious, and cunning. An implacable enemy, Scar is warped by the lust of power, a fact the great-hearted Mufasa learns to late. A greedy, selfish ruler, Scar nearly destroys the pride and the land itself.

Series II unnumbered "Promo Card"

This card came one in every LK Series 2 card packs. In '95 I talked to a card shop owner and he mentioned something about SkyBox having an overabundance of these things and they had to dump their back-stock. It's a theory prone to hearsay, but it's a theory none-the-less.

Picture
Series II Unnumbered Promo Card

Through the wilds of Africa and into the hearts of children young and old, Disney's animated blockbuster has become an instant classic. With a 90-card series, SkyBox has captured the spectacular beauty of the film through the story, character and themes of the movie.
Not to mention pop-up cards, top designs, and other extras you've come to expect from the leading entertainment trading card company in the industry. But, if you've seen the movie, and collected all 90 trading cards, you're not getting the full picture.

SkyBox is proud to introduce The Lion King Series II. The second of the series, this collection picks up where the first ended. It concludes the story of Simba's journey to become king of the Pride Lands and offers a dazzling array of new images and designs. The 80-card set includes two beautiful 9-card scenic puzzles, an Animal Trivia subset, and three different sets of bonus cards--popups, preproduction art, and foil-bordered cards.

Let your imagination follow you home when you collect the complete 170-card set of Series I and II trading cards from SkyBox. Only then will you get the full picture.
